asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what sums have been made available in the financial years 1978–79 and 1979–80, and are planned for 1980–81, for the provision of regional secure units; and how many places have resulted from the expenditure of these funds.

The total amounts received by RHAs in 1978–79 and 1979–80 are shown below:
