asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will provide in the Official Report a list of all of the schools to which he sent his circular concerning the assisted places scheme on 6 December 1979 and, in each case, give the current fee for day pupils charged by each school and details of whether the schools are co-educational or for boys only or girls only.

No. The Department's letter of 6 December about the assisted places scheme was sent to every direct grant grammar school and to every independent school with pupils of secondary school age. Details of the fees charged at all these schools are not available and the other information could be provided in the form requested only at disproportionate cost.
