asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the number of new jobs promoted by the various Government agencies in Northern Ireland over the last five years; and what is the average cost of each job provided.

In the five years ending 31 March 1979 the Department of Commerce, the Northern Ireland Development Agency, and the Local Enterprise Development Unit were involved in promoting 24,435 new jobs. It is not the Government's practice to publish the cost of these jobs.
