asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what independent advice on mental handicap will be available to him after the national development group ceases to exist in April of this year; if he will list the individuals as well as the agencies whose advice will be available to him; and if he will make a statement.

I shall continue to pay close attention to the views of individuals, health and social services authorities, voluntary organisations and professional bodies with an interest in the field of mental handicap. I consider it would be invidious to pick out particular individuals and organisations. I am confident that the interests of mentally handicapped people, their families, and those who care for them will continue to be effectively represented.
