asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what steps he proposes to take in connection with the high level of the charges being made by the North-West water authority for providing a service to the sprinkler system;(2) if he has yet reached a conclusion in his discussions with the National Water Council, the Water Companies Association and the North-West Water Authority over the substantial charges being made to users of fire-fighting sprinkler systems in the North-West.

I am discussing this problem with the North-West water authority. I am hopeful that the matter can be resolved soon. When a final decision is reached I shall make a further statement.
