asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether, in view of the circumstances of the Welsh Development Agency's investment in P. Leiner and Son, he will seek to change the terms of employment of members and employees of the Welsh Development Agency so that they are rendered subject to the clearance procedures governing acceptance by former civil servants of appointments in the private sector.

Conditions of appointment and tenure of members of the Welsh Development Agency are prescribed in schedule 1 to the Welsh Development Agency Act 1975. They follow the normal pattern for appointments to public bodies generally and I am not persuaded that the agency should be treated differently.The terms of employment of employees of the Welsh Development Agency are a matter for the board of the agency.
