asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects the first regional secure psychiatric unit to admit its first patients.

It is expected the first permanent regional secure unit—as opposed to the interim units already in operation—will be at St. Luke's hospital, Middlesbrough. The regional health authority advises that it expects it to be completed in October 1980 and hopes the first patients will be admitted shortly thereafter.
