asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied that the Government's decision to recommend the increase in the proportion of textured vegetable protein in food from 10 per cent. to 30 per cent. will not have adverse effects upon the British home beef industry.

An expert panel of the Committee on Medical Aspects of Food Policy which advises my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services on the health aspects of nutrition has recommended that in institutional catering vegetable protein food may replace meat protein up to a proportion of 30 per cent.
