asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what statistics are normally collected by his Department on the numbers of purchasers of council houses who default on mortgage payments or who subsequently become homeless; and if he will, in the light of forthcoming legislation, ensure that any trends are carefully studied.

None. I am considering how the right to buy and the other main aspects of the Housing Bill should be monitored.
