Toll Bridges

asked the Minister of Transport if he will list the toll bridges in England and Wales with their current toll charge discounts, giving the dates and amounts of the last increase.

The only toll bridge in England for which I am directly responsible is the Severn bridge and the information requested for this bridge, is as follows:Books of 50 prepaid vouchers are available for all classes of traffic at a 10% discount.Toll charges were increased with effect from 29 August 1979.

The Tamar bridge and Middlesbrough transporter bridge are the only other publicly owned toll bridges.Information on the timing of toll increases on the Tamar brige is not available since the operators do not always charge up to the maximum authorised levels. Books of 20 pre-paid vouchers are available for all classes of traffic at a 50% discount.
