Treasury Entrance Notice (Cost)

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the cost of a notice at the Great George Street entrance to the Treasury which reads"Maximum width 2·1 metres (7' 0"). All vehicles exceeding this width are prohibited from entering these gates. By order D o E"; and whether any such vehicles have entered these gates since the notice was affixed.

The cost of the notices on either side of the archway was £94·77 when they were renewed in January 1979. They were originally installed in 1970 to minimise damage to the gates.Responsibility for controlling entry rests with the Treasury security guards.
