Mr. Delwyn Williams
asked the Secretary of State for Wales what change is proposed in the health and personal social services cash limit for Wales, Class XI, 3 in relation to the Clegg award to nurses and midwives.
Mr. Nicholas Edwards
Subject to parliamentary approval of the necessary revised Estimate the Welsh health and personal social services cash limit will be decreased by £1,156,000 from £440,562,000 to £439,406,000. This reflects the fact that some health authorities were able to pay the Clegg Commission award to nurses and mid-wives during 1979–80 thereby reducing the required carry-over into 1980–81.
