asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make provision for more centres for the education of deaf children in the county of Derbyshire.

I have been asked to reply.The provision of special educational treatment for handicapped children is the responsibility of the local education authority concerned. However, I am advised that in general the Derbyshire local authority finds little difficulty in obtaining appropriate places for deaf children in their area.
