Mr. Sproat
asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what assistance he is giving to the fishing industry to enable it to restructure.
Mr. Buchanan-Smith
Financial aid is available under United Kingdom grant and loan schemes for the building and modernisation of fishing vessels. The provision for 1980–81 is some £13·7 million. Consideration will be given to further restructuring aids in the context of the negotiations on the common fisheries policy.
