Notes:

(a) Intervention prices for November 1981. The intervention prices for common wheat and barley increase by monthly steps of £1·39 per tonne from the August price of £102·22 to a level of £114·69 for May 1982; from 1 June to 31 July the intervention prices revert to the August values. The intervention price for durum wheat—which is theoretical because United Kingdom production is negligible—increases by monthly steps of £1·48 per tome from the August price of £170·12 to a level of £183·48 for May 1982; from 1 June to 31 July the intervention price reverts to the August value. The oilseed rape intervention price is increased by eight monthly steps of £2·80 per tonne beginning in September 1981.

(b)The target price for certified cattle for week ending 8 November

1981. The target price is seasonalised on a weekly basis; its average over the 1981–82 marketing year is 91·2 p/kg. liveweight.

(c)These figures represent 78 per cent. and 92 per cent. respectively of the basic price. In principle, and under certain circumstances, the Commission may activate intervention buying within this range. In practice, intervention has not taken place in the pig sector in recent years.

(d) The guide price for certified sheep for week ending 8 November 1981. The guide price is seasonalised on a weekly basis; its average over the 1981–82 marketing year is 195·03 p/kg. deadweight.

(e) The United Kingdom guarantee price for maincrop potatoes.
