asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many persons were killed and injured, respectively, in road accidents in the most recent annual period for which figures are available; and what are the comparable totals in each of the previous 10 years.

Full details for 1970–80 are given in the Department's annual publication "Road Accidents Great Britain", the latest edition of which is to be published on Monday 30 November. The latest figures are:
