asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will introduce legislation to repeal those sections of the Landlord and Tenant Acts which relate to leaseholds and shortholds to permit such contracts to be entered into by landlords and tenants without intervention by central Government or local authorities.

My right hon. Friend has no plans to do so.
