asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Newham, North-West on 6 April, Official Report, column 328, he will publish details of the evidence upon which the advice he has received that adults with natural teeth benefit from fluoridated water supplies is based.

Several studies support the conclusion that consumption of fluoridated water during the years of tooth formation reduces the prevalence of dental decay and that this benefit persists into adult life. I shall write to the hon. Member with details of such research.
