asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the health authorities that have experimented with the ambulance management structure that is to be implemented by the four Hertfordshire district health authorities, with the duration of the experiment and the outcome.

[pursuant to his reply, 30 March 1982, c. 93]: The operation of the ambulance service in Hertfordshire has been controlled since 6 February this year from a single centre in Welwyn Garden City. This development is in line with long-standing departmental guidance on the rationalisation of controls, which I understand has been carried out in a substantial proportion of ambulance services. This is a matter for local decision and we do not collect centrally details of every change.
