asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish the following information relating to housing in Scotland in 1981 (a) the number of permanent new dwellings started by (i) local authorities, (ii) new towns, (iii) the Scottish Special Housing Association, (iv) housing associations and (v) the private sector, (b) the number of dwellings in approved applications for improvement works by (i) local authorities (ii) new towns, (iii) the Scottish Special Housing Association and (iv) housing associations and (c) the number of dwellings in approved applications for private sector grants in the following categories (i) improvement, (ii) conversion, (iii) standard and (iv) repair grants.

The information available to date for 1981 is set out in the following table:
