asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will take steps to improve opportunities for further and higher education in Scotland.

The Government's expenditure plans for 1982–83 to 1984–85, as set out in Cmnd. 8494, include the provision of additional resources to increase the number of places available in full-time further education. We shall continue to give priority to those sectors which are of importance to the country's economic recovery.
