Shipping Operators (Subsidies)

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the total Government subsidy paid to ferry and shipping operators in each of the last three years in Scotland, together with his Department's expected expenditure in the current financial year; and if he will list the sums paid to each recipient company in each of those years.

The figures for 1979–80 to 1981–82 are of actual expenditure.The figures for the main groups of operators in 1982–83 are as announced on 12 February 1982. There is also a provisional allowance within the bulk shipping total for Gardner Shipping (Scotland) Limited, a draft Undertaking for which was laid before the House on 26 April 1982.
