asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many firms in Dundee have notified their closure to the Manpower Services Commission during each year for the years 1977 to 1981 and what is the figure to date for 1982; and, for each year, what has been the number of redundancies incurred by the closures.

Comprehensive information on redundancies and closures is not available. The following table gives the numbers of instances of redundancy involving 10 or more workers and leading to closure of an establishment which have been notified to the Manpower Services Commission as due to occur in Dundee in each of the years since 1977, and the redundancies associated with these closures.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will set out the current number of unemployed in Dundee by standard industrial classification.

I refer the hon. Member to the reply that I gave to the hon. Member for Dundee, West (Mr. Ross) on 16 March 1982—[Vol. 20, c. 101–104.] The August 1981 analysis by industry remains the latest available.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give a breakdown of unemployment in Dundee by age group for the latest date available and show the corresponding figures for 1981.
