asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the progress the Government have made in implementing the recommendations of the Hughes commission on legal services in Scotland.

My right hon. Friend hopes shortly to be in a position to announce some decisions resulting from the Government's consideration of the recommendations and the representations received upon them.
