asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether consideration is being given to realigning prescription charges to an amount comparable in real terms with that of May 1979.

No. During the last review of public expenditure it was decided that charges for the family practitioner services, including prescription charges, should be increased in real terms from 1 April 1982 to help offset the growth in expenditure on these services.
