Mr. Deakins
asked the Prime Minister, pursuant to her reply of 13 July, Official Report, c. 341, why, in view of the fact that the subject of arms sales to Israel was discussed among European Economic Community members, it has not been discussed among North Atlantic Treaty Organisation members.
The Prime Minister
The situation in the Lebanon has been considered in NATO. Discussions of arms sales to Israel took place among the Ten because that is a more appropriate forum for discussion of this subject, and in view of the common approach that the Ten have adopted towards the problems of the Middle East.
