asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which local education authorities make head teachers redundant without either an offer of alternative employment with protected salary or premature retirement with enhanced pension.

The Department does not collect information on offers of alternative employment made to teachers by local education authorities, and information on the terms offered to individual teachers retiring prematurely is not available except at disproportionate cost. However, I am not aware of any case of a head teacher being made redundant except on terms agreeed with his employer.
