asked the Secretary of State for the Environment why the hon. Member for Ealing, Acton (Sir George Young) refused to meet a group of people, details of which were supplied in a letter from the hon. Member for Basildon on 16 July; how many other people, or groups of people, the hon. Member for Ealing, Acton has declined to meet since being given special responsibilities for race relations within his Department; who they were; and if he will make a statement.

I have written to my hon. Friend giving my reasons for not seeing the group to which he referred in his letter of 16 July. Detailed records are not kept of the organisations it has not been possible for me to meet in the course of my official duties.
