asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will now make direct representations to the South African authorities to ask them to commute the capital sentences on Marcus Motaung, Jerry Mosololi and Simon Mogoerane; and if he will make a statement.

We, like other Governments, have taken steps to let the South African Government know of the deep concern which has been expressed about this case.
