I have met representatives of the Confederation of British Industry for this purpose on a number of occasions over the last few months. The last occasion was on Thursday 16 October.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he expects to meet representatives of the Confederation of British Industry and of the Trades Union Congress to discuss the progress of the economy.

I expect to meet representatives of both the Confederation of British Industry and the Trades Union Congress when I chair the next monthly meeting of the National Economic Development Council on 8 November. A meeting is being arranged to meet the economic committee of the General Council of the TUC but the precise timing has yet to be decided. I will also be attending the "question time" session at the CBI Conference on Sunday.
