asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what discussions he has had with representatives of banks and financial institutions regarding rescheduling of debts; and if he will make a statement.

I met a variety of bankers in Toronto when I attended the joint annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank between 6-9 September. Rescheduling and related matters were widely discussed in Toronto and I considered these matters in my speech to the IMF, a copy of which is in the Library.
