asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many employees there are in Professional and Executive Recruitment; how many vacancies they fill a year; and what is the total number of professional and executive vacancies filled annually.

At 1 November 1982 there were 364ยท5 staff employed in Professional and Executive Recruitment. In the year ending 31 October 1982 over 7,700 vacancies were filled, which included about 2,200 in the Manpower Services Commission's own special programmes schemes. There is no authoritative figure for the total number of professional and executive vacancies filled annually, although a survey in 1976 suggested there were at that time of the order of 120,000 engagements a year at this level in the private sector.
