asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will provide a percentage breakdown of the number of males out of work in the following categories: (a) up to one year, (b) between one and two years, (c) between two and three years and (d) over three years, in Glasgow and in Scotland on the latest date for which information is available.

The table following gives an analysis by duration of unemployment of the number of males registered as unemployed in the Glasgow travel-to-work area and in Scotland on 14 October 1982, the latest date for which information is available.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland by what percentage (a) total and (b) male unemployment in Glasgow has risen since May 1979, taking the May 1979 figures as equal to 100; and what are the corresponding figures for Scotland.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many (a) medical practitioners and (b) nurses and midwives are unemployed in Glasgow at present.

On 9 September 1982, the latest date for which information is available, 28 unemployed people in the Glasgow travel-to-work area were registered for employment as medical practitioners and 219 for employment as state registered and state enrolled nurses and state certified midwives.

The Glasgow travel-to-work area comprises the 13 employment office areas within Glasgow city together with the Barrhead, Clydebank, Cumbernauld, East Kilbride, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch employment office areas.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many primary and secondary school teachers are unemployed in Glasgow.

The following table shows the increase in total and male unemployment between May 1979 and October 1982 as an index, taking the May 1979 figure as 100.

asked the Secretary of Stale for Scotland if he will publish a table showing the number registered at each Glasgow employment area office as unemployed for each of the following dates: (a) October 1979, (b) October 1980, (c) October 1981 and (d) October 1982; and what has been the percentage change in each case.

On 9 September 1982, the latest date for which information is available, 627 unemployed people in the Glasgow travel-to-work area were registered for employment as primary teachers and 295 for employment as secondary teachers.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many young people have been unemployed in Glasgow and in Scotland for over a year; and what were the comparable figures for 1981, 1980 and 1979.

Information on the numbers of young people under 18 who had been registered as unemployed for over 52 weeks at employment and careers offices in the Glasgow travel-to-work area and Scotland on 14 October 1982, the latest date for which information is available, and in the corresponding months in the previous three years, is set out in the table following.
