asked the Minister for Trade if he will take steps to safeguard the micro-computer industry in the United Kingdom against cheap imported products, particularly from Japan.

The Government are at the moment considering representations from the industry. The level of imports from Japan in this sector is currently low compared with imports from other suppliers, but we are monitoring the situation closely.
