asked the Minister for Trade if he will make a statement on his policy towards the recommendations of the Cork committee on insolvency relating to personal liability of directors; and whether he plans to implement its recommendations.

The extension of insolvency law to attach personal liability to directors in certain circumstances is one of many inter-related and inter-dependent recommendations in the Cork report. We are still awaiting some consultation comments to come in but after these have been received I hope to announce whether any particular aspects can be dealt with in advance of the major legislation which would be required to implement the main body of the report.
