Viscount Cranborne, supported by Mr. Harry Greenway, Mr. Julian Amery, Mr. Stephen Hastings, Mr. Mark Lennox-Boyd, and Mr. David Atkinson, presented a Bill to provide for the election of Members of the House of Commons by university constituencies in the United Kingdom; to prohibit reference to political affiliations on ballot papers in such elections; to uphold the independence of Members so elected; and to prohibit such Members from holding ministerial office: And the same was read the First time; and order to be read a Second time upon Friday 4 February and to be printed.
