Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the total level of arrears owed to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for rent, rates and heating.

This is a matter for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, but I understand from the chairman that the total level of arrears at 31 December 1984 owed by both current and former tenants for rent, rates and district heating charges was £19·890 million.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many Northern Ireland Housing Executive tenants owe over £100 for (a) rent arrears and (b) heating arrears.

This is a matter for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. I understand from the chairman that the information is not readily available in the form requested. However, I am informed that the number of current tenants at 31 December 1984 owing more than four weeks' charges for rent and rates was 41,140 and for district heating was 2,349.
