asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many cases of cattle infested with warble fly were notified to his Department in each year since the beginning of the warble fly eradication campaign.

Surveys show that infestation in cattle has dropped from over 30 per cent. in 1978, at the start of the campaign, to 0ยท01 per cent. in 1984. In 1982, when warble fly became notifiable, owners of 623 herds where disease was suspected were served notices to treat their cattle; in 1983 the figure was 518 and in 1984, 500.
