asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will now appoint a departmental equal opportunities officer with responsibility for coordinating the Civil Service policy of non-discrimination within his Department.

Officers within the personnel divisions of all parts of the Department of Employment group have been designated as equal opportunity officers. They have responsibility for advising on the full scope of equal opportunity matters concerning race and sex discrimination.
