asked the Secretary of State for Energy what recent consideration he has given to the possibility of supplying gas to Northern Ireland through a pipeline from the Morecambe bay gas field; and if he will make a statement.

The British Gas Corporation, as licensee for the development, has proposed from the outset that the Morecambe field should be linked by pipeline to Great Britain; and so provided in its development plan approved in February 1982.
