asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many people in Scotland will now be exempt from tax as a result of his Budget Statement.

[pursuant to his reply, 25 March 1985, c. 100]: Of the 800,000 people who would have paid tax in 1985–86 if personal allowances had not been raised in the Budget about 75,000 live in Scotland.
