asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will list, by region, the level of investment in manufacturing industry for the years 1979 to 1984, expressed in 1979 prices.

[pursuant to the reply, 29 March 1985]: Constant price statistics are not available for investment by region. Figures in the following table are at current prices and relate to investment by manufacturing industry (excluding leased assets) in the standard regions of the United Kingdom. Estimates for 1983 and 1984 are not yet available.
