asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the average wage for full-time (a) males and (b) females in the east midlands; and what are the comparable figures (i) nationally and (ii) in the south-east.

The latest information relates to full-time employees on adult rates working a full week in April 1984. Figures of average gross weekly earnings for such employees in each region of Great Britain, and in Great Britain as a whole, are published for males in table 110 and for females in table 113 of new earnings survey 1984, part E. A copy is in the Library.
