asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if the Central Office of Information will issue an announcement drawing the attention of landowners and farmers to their responsibilities towards public footpaths similar to their announcement of 27 April on Walking in the Countryside.

The Countryside Commission's access charter and accompanying booklet "Out in the Country" contains information on the responsibilities of landowners and farmers in connection with public footpaths. This is being given effective publicity, including announcements through the Central Office of Information as appropriate.
