asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has had any further information as to whether the Argentine Government are proposing to take any action regarding the disappearance in Argentina of Dr. Douglas Gillie and Mr. Walter Fleury whose names are listed in the report of the national commission on the disappearance of persons; what is the extent and nature of the evidence about them in the possession of the Argentine authorities; and whether this will be made public.

In January the Argentine Government informed the Swiss protecting power, which has made inquiries at our request, that evidence contained in the report of the national commission would be submitted to the judiciary: relatives would be duly informed of the court where they might present their case.

The Argentine authorities have not announced when this may happen nor have they released any information about the extent and nature of the evidence. The Swiss protecting power is pursuing the matter on our behalf.
