asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list in the Official Report all the different types of licences operated or granted by his Department and the year in which they first came into operation.

Licences issued by the Ministry of Defence cover a wide variety of purposes including the commercial use of designs and inventions resulting from work done in its research and development establishments; the use of defence lands; the occupation of married quarters, and other activities. No central record is kept, and it would be impracticable to provide a full list with dates of operation.
