asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons were proceeded against for the offence of being drunk and incapable in (a) Inverclyde, (b) Strathclyde and (c) Scotland for each of the past five years; and of these how many received custodial sentences.

The table provides the information requested for the two offences of being drunk and disorderly and of habitual drunkenness which are combined in the classification of crimes and offences used by my Department.Persons proceeded against for being drunk and disorderly and for habitual drunkenness.
