asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the social services have adequate information about relevant criminal records of those hoping to work with vulnerable people.

We shall be in a better position to reply after we have seen the report of the review which my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department has established of the arrangements for supplying such information. I refer the hon. Member to his reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Surrey, South-West (Mrs. Bottomley) on 27 March at column 247.
