asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the implications for the United Kingdom of recent moves by the United States Government to subsidise the export of certain agricultural products.

It is too early to quantify the effects of the export enhancement programme announced by the United States authorities on 15 May, which will depend, inter alia, on the nature and extent of such sales and the reaction of other exporting countries.
