asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has completed his review of the road programme; and if he will make a statement.
I have placed in the Library of the House copies of a report published today which records the outcome of this year's review of the road programme. Copies are also available in the Vote Office. Fifty-one schemes are added to the national programme, worth £311 million in all. The road programme now contains 343 schemes in construction or in preparation with a total value of over £4 billion. The report also sets out in detail the progress made in each of the Department's regions since 1983 and proposals for further study of investment needs.
